Every day an ordinary day becomes an extraordinary day for someone. People have accidents, collapse and many survive because someone does something.
Emergency Life Support is the set of actions needed to keep someone alive in an emergency situation until professional help arrives. Emergency Life Support skills can be used in a wide range of situations from choking, serious bleeding to cardiac arrest. By staying calm, acting quickly and applying ELS skills people who might otherwise die can be saved.
S3 students are currently undertaking ELS training, which is an initiative co-ordinated by the British Heart Foundation.
