College Debating Society

The College Debating Society provides an excellent opportunity for students of all ages to debate a wide range of controversial issues in a casual and sociable environment. The society has proved to be very popular among students, often providing them with an entertaining and lively topic to discuss around lunch.

The School Debating Society hosts one session per week, where students have the opportunity to debate a wide range of contemporary issues in a casual environment. Students have, in the past, had the opportunity to debate moral issues such as Gay Marriage, Abortion and Euthanasia, and contemporary political issues have also remained a central focus of the society's discussions.

The Society sits in two different forms; a Junior and Senior form. The Society is chaired and organised by a group of students, and overseen by Mrs Quinn (History, Government & Politics Department).

The Debating Society provides students with an excellent opportunity to develop a range of public speaking and debating skills, which will assist them throughout their lives. The Society also provides students with an excellent opportunity to engage with students outside of the classroom, and to make new friends.
