St.Colman's College Parents' Association was formed in May 2001 by a number of parents and College staff.
The objective of the Association is to advance the education of the pupils of the College. It does this by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the College (not normally provided by DE). In pursuing this objective, the Association may:
- foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents, local community and others associated with the College
- engage in activities which support the College and advance the education of the pupils
- promote the College to prospective parents.
The Committee meets at least once a term during the school year to plan Parents' Association events, set the calendar, and monitor the budget. The Committee has a consistent line of communication with the College.
Parents' Association activities vary each year in accordance to College needs. This year all funds raised by the Committee were allocated towards the provision of a new College minibus which was presented to Dr. Francis Brown in March 2004.
In the past, successful fundraising opportunities included:
- The Annual Barbecue
- The Rose – A nativity Opera, performed in the College Chapel
- Raffle for two Cusack Stand All-Ireland tickets
- Night at the Races
- Golf Classic
Parents' Association fundraising is ongoing and we appeal for your assistance. Volunteering to work for the Association is a great way to meet other parents and stay involved in your child's education. It is time spent for a great cause – your child and his school.
New members can be elected to the Committee at the Annual General Meeting, however volunteers for activities are always welcome and can contact the Parents' Association Secretary, Mrs Siubhan O'Dubhain at info@stcolmans.org.uk |
