The College gives full recognition to the values of Careers Education and Guidance. While careers Education is taught as a Cross-Curricular Theme through which school subjects are made more meaningful to students, a number of careers counsellors have special responsibility for delivering the College Careers Education and Guidance Programme.
In this programme emphasis is placed on the development of personal awareness and the skills related to Educational Training and Occupational opportunities.
The careers education and Guidance Programme encourages each student to develop a realistic and relevant Personal Careers Action Plan based on careful consideration of himself as a person and on accurate information on the world of work. In this way each student is helped to choose a selection of occupations through which he may find self-fulfilment and make his own contribution to society.
Students are interviewed during their Third, Fifth, and Sixth years and all senior students have the opportunity to attend various Careers Conventions. Other Careers exercises include Work shadowing experience, Interview Days and Business Focus Days. Speakers from various Educational institutions address appropriate year groups. The College has a unique link established with the University of Cambridge. |
