Overview
All students study English from J1 to S2.
The CCEA Specification is followed and assessed at GCSE level in both compulsory Language and Literature.
At A Level English Literature is offered. At present the CCEA Specification is taken with assessment at AS and A2 Levels.
KS3
Students study a wide selection of prose, poetry and drama texts throughout J1- J3. They learn how to write in various forms and styles.
Literacy is promoted across the department through a literacy and reading week.
The students read a selection of genres throughout KS3. They are encourages to regularly visit the Library and an annual Book Fair also takes place.

The department has a very active extra-curricular dimension which includes involvement with Creative Writing competitions and Literacy competitions.
