Good luck in Ulster Track & Field Championships
Best of luck to Callum McDonagh and Leo Magee who compete in the Ulster Track and Field Championships tonight, Callum goes in the 3000M an event which has been won for the last 3 years by a College athlete, Leo is in the 1500 S/Chase, and will be doing his best to chase John Fitzpatrick’s College record set in 2015.
Also competing on Friday night is the 4 x 400 relay team of Patrick Brooks, Conor O’Carroll, Jack O’Farrell and Eoghan Byrne hoping to retain their Ulster title and improve on the Ulster record they set last year. On Saturday both Eoghan Byrne (Senior Boys)and Conor O’Carroll(Inter Boys)will be hoping to lift Ulster titles in the 400. Conor in particular has his eye on Eoghan’s inter record of 50.60 set two years ago.
Late in the evening on Saturday Jack O’Farell and Miceal McCaul contest the Senior Boys 1500m, Jack is defending champion and is looking for his fourth Ulster Schools title in a row, but he will not have it his own way , least of all from Miceal and a host of other top 1500M athletes from across the province . The top two athletes/ teams in the sprint and sprint relay events and the top three athletes in the middle distance events are guaranteed their place at the All Ireland ???? schools track and field championships on June 1 st in Tullamore , Co Offaly.
