Look what's in store for pupils at Violet Hill
In our series of advertising our great College to prospective pupils in P7 and in Year 12 we now treat with a testimonial from Year 14 Head Prefect Adam O'Neill.
I came from Jonesborough Primary School, Co Armagh, a small school with under 100 pupils which I loved. Choosing to go to St Colman’s was always going to be a big change for me.
I never knew anybody else who was going to the College but this wouldn’t put me off as I was determined to go to a school which in my eyes is the best there is, not only for the amazing facilities, countless extra curricular activities and the great academic achievement, but also for how nice the staff had been to me upon attending the Open Day.
It wasn’t long before I made friends as many others didn’t know anyone either and these people I met on my first days at St Colman’s are to this day my best friends along with many others I met along my school journey.
In J1 I loved the excitement of trying new things from new sports such as track and field to new subjects like Design and Technology. Looking back on my time I can honestly say the people have made my school experience one I will never forget.
My classmates, teachers and teammates at the College have all shaped me and given me some great memories. I have taken part in countless activities at the school due to the vast amount of opportunities that are offered to all of us.
To give P7 pupils an idea of what is in store for you at the College I have been priviliged to
- Win Ulster titles in Hurling, Cross Country and Track and Field
- I pitched a smartphone app designed and coded by myself and two friends to industry experts at Belfast City Hall.
- I played clarinet in our Christmas Carol Service,
- I loved competing in Biology and linguistic Olympiads and much much more.
Currently I am studying Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Spanish for my A-Levels and my interest in these areas has grown massively thanks to the teachers at St Colman's College.
Overall my time at the College has been one I will never forget and I would do it all again if I had the opportunity, I am proud to say that choosing to come to St Colman’s College is a decision which I will always be thankful for making.
