GCSE Mathematics

There are two possible courses of study to choose from:

GCSE Mathematics in 2 years

AQA GCSE Mathematics 4360 Linear

This is the normal course of study adopted by many students in which they extend their learning into Key Stage 4. Students are offered the opportunity to sit GCSE Mathematics at a level commensurate with their ability.

Different Tiers of Entry allow for different grades to be awarded.

  • Higher Tier (grades D to A*)
  • Foundation Tier (grades G to C)

Assessment Timetable

Units are sat at the following session.

Unit 1, 2 & 3 - Summer exam session of Year 12 (5th year).

GCSE Maths in 1 year followed by GCSE Additional Maths in 1 year

AQA GCSE Mathematics 4360 Modular

Note.   In choosing Additional Mathematics students must first complete the outgoing AQA GCSE Mathematics 4360 modular course in one year.

CCEA GCSE Additional Mathematics G03

Additional Mathematics GCSE covers two broad areas of Mathematics:

Pure Mathematics covering topics such as calculus, trigonometry, logs and matrices

Applied Mathematics involving Mechanics such asNewton’s laws, kinematics & forces and Statistics such as standard deviation, probability, bivariate analysis & time series

Examination Structure – Linear

  1. Paper 1 Pure Mathematics (Code G0301)

    3. one 2-hr paper
  2. Paper 2 Mechanics & Statistics (Code G0302)
    1. 25% each for mechanics & statistics
