Violet Hill - Winners of Kevin P. Neary Memorial Cup

A big congratulations to our actors who were awarded with the Best Overall Performance at Newry Drama Feis last week. In doing so they were presented with the Kevin P. Neary Memorial Cup. Another exciting development was when Drama coordinator Miss McPeake was informed that Cuan Hosy-BlaneyJ3E was to be awarded for his outstanding performances with a bursary to spend a week in the lyric in July on work experience.

Mrs Quinn's debating team was awarded as being the premier school team in Northern Ireland this evening at a grand event in Parliament Buildings, Stormont. The event was attended by many illustrious names in Politics and not least Minister Arlene Foster, who presented our boys with their prestigious award, having defeated RBAI in the showpieve event. Astounding Success in the College Readathon 2014!

J1 and J2 students recently participated in a Sponsored Readathon, organised by the literacy coordinator Miss Boyle and with the support of the English department. The aim of the Readathon was to raise as much money as possible for disabled and seriously ill children. The three charities which money was raised for were ‘CLILC Sargent’, ‘Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity’ and ‘Readwell’.

College Chaplain Canon Hackett said Mass for the S4 Leavers this evening at a beautiful ceremony in St Colman's College chapel. The Mass was accompanied by beautiful music, organised by our Music Department and the liturgy was organised by the College Religious Studies Department. Mr McKinney thanked the many parents and family members for their attendance at the special event to mark the great investment their boys have made at Violet Hill.
