Violet Hill athletes win Senior Ulster Cross Country

First up was the Intermediate boys team which was superbly led by Callum McDonagh who finished in 9th place out of 160 competitors. The team finished in second place and qualifies for the All Ireland Championships in 3 weeks time.

 

The blue riband event of these Championships is the Senior Boys title and St Colman's hadn't won it since 2012, they put that to rights with an emphatic victory over famed rivals St Malachy's Belfast.

 

The College with 3 in the first 8 ,Miceal McCaul 3rd Jack O'Farrell 4th, Tom Mage 8th , and Coilean Connell closing the team off in 21st ensured a strong victory by the College athletes.

 

On March 9th St Colman's College will have two teams contesting the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships, keeping up the tradition of qualifying for these Championships every year since 2008.
