Athletics Reigns Supreme On Violet Hill
People may have been forgiven for thinking that Athletics in the College would suffer greatly due to the graduation of the Monaghan Twins and co to 3rd Level Education, but not so. It seems that the unprecedented successes of Andrew, Patrick and the All Irleand winning teams has only served to spur our younger athletes on.
Yesterday in DCU our Junior team picked up a title which was competed for by teams throughout the country. Peter Fegan, winner of a prestigious international race last week finished in 2nd place. David Corkey J2 finished in 7th place, Stephen Grant finished 8th and Bill Finnegan finished in 15th place. This was some feat considering there were over 300 in the race!
This young team is now setting its sights on the Down Schools' event which will take place at the end of the month.
Their coach Mr Mussen, assisted by Brian Kane and Mrs Quinn are delighted with the application and determination this young team has shown.
