J3 pupils Ciaran Bagnall, Ross Carr, Jack Mc Cartan and Conor O'Neill won the Gael Linn Quiz at the Newry Sports Centre on Friday. Representatives from throughout the year group were present at the annual event which is a huge hit with the lads. Irish teachers Dr Collins and Mr Mc Mahon were very proud of the lads. (16th October Late entries will not be accepted) The competition is open for J1, J2 and J3 students. Create an A4 poster highlighting and environmental issue in Newry and Mourne. The winning prize is an Ipad for yourself and an Ipad for the school. 12 runners up will receive a £50 voucher. The Eco Code Icon on the VLE has some ideas for posters. Charity Walk In Memory Of Dariush

The St Colman's community is gearing up for a 5K charity walk in memory of former pupil Dariush Mehrtash who passed away before his time at the turn of the year. The aim is to raise money for Shimna Valley Respite Centre in Newcastle Co Down, which provides some breathing space for families which are struggling with the effects of cancer. Collingwood Star Visits Alma Mater

Head of PE Mr Cathal Murray was delighted to welcome Collingwood rising star Caolan Mooney back to his Alma Mater last week. Caolan is home for a short holiday and availed of the opportunity to call up to St Colman’s. He caught up with Mr Murray and chatted with some Year 8 pupils, who were obviously delighted to see Caolan.

Dr Collins Announces Student Council Election Results

Senior teacher Dr Collins visited St Colman's College chapel this morning for the J1 assembly, in order to announce results of the recent election to the College student council. Dr Collins stressed the importance of the council going forward, 'this council gives all students a real voice in the College and encourages everyone to feel that they have a role to play in decision making processes.'

St Colman’s pupils achieved remarkable results this year at GCSE Level with the most striking of all story being the achievement of Mateusz Jadczak.
