Aidan Gough, father of pupils Connor (S4) and Conall (S3) and employee of Inter Trade Ireland spoke to our S4 PE pupils about Diabetes and Hypokinetic Disorders in general. Aidan is a sufferer of Type 1 diabetes and spoke informatively and at length on the implications of being a diabetic. Thanks to Aidan for volunteering to do this.

Shoe Box Christmas Appeal 2011

Celebration of McFarland Cup Hurling success.

Paudie Butler, former National Director of Hurling, visited the college on Thursday to present the McFarland cup medals to the winning panel. Mr Butler complimented the boys on their achievement in becoming the first St. Colman’s team to win an Ulster colleges’ title. Forensics for Real

The STEM Module visited St Colman’s College on Monday 12th December to do forensic work with the Year 8 pupils. This work involved hands on experience of crime scene investigation such as blood analysis, foot print analysis, fibre analysis, urine tests and flame tests. A number of Year 8 pupils attended the STEM Module throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Peter Johnson and the technical staff from the NEELB who delivered this module.

The Music Department’s celebration of Christmas involves a pretty hectic schedule.It includes playing in the chapel, performing for the Annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Charity Dinner and working with Rathore.Today eight string players preformed Christmas Carols for the residents of Ardmaine Nursing Home for two hours. It was a lovely uplifting experience.The students really entertained the residents, and were very well received.
