Year 9 Music classes are busy making group compositions these days!

The PE GCSE class spent two days on a Hill Walking expedition to the Mournes as part of their practical in the subject. It was an enjoyable experience for the Year 12 pupils, their previous experience only took them away for a one day walk last June. The boys had to walk for over 15 miles using a map and compass, pitch their tents and cook their meals on trangias (potable stoves).

Mrs Crowl enjoyed introducing the members of the J1 Chemistry Club to some Gas Chemistry. These young lads have a great interest in Science and we wish them well.

Well done to all the Junior pupils who took part in this week’s Chess Club with Mr Lewis. Vice Principal Mr Franklin made an appearance too but unfortunately for him he was out manoeuvred by the crafty Juniors.

Senior music students have today embarked upon the Composers in the Classroom project as offered by Chamber Choir Ireland. Session One was delivered via TEAMS by the upcoming Irish composer Áine Mallon.

The S3 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their fieldwork at the beautiful surrounds of Murlough Beach. Despite some challenging weather the boys had a great educational visit. They also visited the glorious Tollymore whilst on their travels.

Congratulations to our swimmers. These great young men were successful in Div 1 and Div 2 Irish National Championships during the summer.

S1 student, Ulster champion and All Ireland finalist, Danny O’Neill, being congratulated by Head of PE, Mr Murray on his achievements. Danny secured a place on the Ulster high performance team spending 5 days training in Italy in July where he beat the Italian champion.
