Students in J1 will be talking part in a sponsored ‘Readathon’ from the 4th to the 8th March. This is for an extremely worthwhile cause and will raise money for the charities ‘CLIC Sargent’, ‘Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity’ and ‘Readwell’, which all help seriously ill children. In addition this will also support the J1 students in their reading development by encouraging reading for pleasure.

Congratulations to the Glenn club and indeed our own pupils Conall Mc Nally, Sean Boyle and Joseph Sands who made up the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Quiz winning team, which was victorious on Saturday in Co Derry. We are extremely proud of the efforts of the three lads and Home Economics teacher Ms Murphy, Secretary of the Glenn club, was in Derry on Saturday evening to witness the great achievement.

On February 4 the Music Department had the pleasure of welcoming back Rostrevor past-pupil Páidí O’Dubháin for a morning of work on vocal technique and interpretation. Páidí, completed a degree at DIT and continued his studies by gaining a baritone place on the Vocal Studies Masters Degree course at the Guildhall, London. Currently based in Belgium, he is now pursuing his career as a singer, his most recent engagement being a member of the cast for the highly acclaimed performance of

Our senior team were within minutes of reaching the MacRory Cup Final on St Patrick's Day but a late surge from SPC Maghera meant that both teams have to do it all again. It was a fantastic display of hard but fair football played at a frenetic pace throughout, credit to both teams. Trócaire Campaign Begins In Earnest!

The annual Lenten Trocaire Campaign will focus specifically on raising essential funds for St. Leo’s College in Lodwar, Kenya and Trócaire. The Campaign will include a whole school Sponsored Walk to Newry Cathedral where Mass will be celebrated by Canon Hackett. This will take place on Wednesday 13th March 2013. Last year's Trócaire Campaign raised £8,280 and it is hoped this year to improve on last year's achievement. Each student and staff member will receive a sponsorship

Students in St Colman's College showed their generosity by raising a fantastic £425 for the Children in Crossfire Advent Appeal. The charity, founded by Derry man Richard Moore, has been working hard to help visually impaired children in The Gambia go to school. His proudest achievement in Gaelic Games so far is registering a goal against Derry in a challenge game last year. It was his debut in the red and black. The Athletes at Violet hill secured another two Ulster titles yesterday at Mallusk. It was a great day's work for our runners who not only won the first year race but also achieved a remarkable double with also winning the second year race. The hard work since the Downs has paid off as the second year team were able to overturn their rivals which defeated them in Delamont. Congratulations to Mr Mussen and his assistants Mr Kane and Mrs Quinn.
