An outstanding performance by St Colman's Choir

An audience of almost 200 people attended a concert in Newry RC Cathedral on Sunday evening entitled 'O Magnum Mysterium'. The concert, under the direction of Miss Frame and delivered by the choir of Violet Hill was a perfect reflection of the countless hours of preparation which preceded it. A sincere congratulations to all involved in a most beautiful performance.

Corn na nÓg Final Preview: This Friday (7th Dec), at 6pm in Emyvale, Co.Monaghan, the footballers of St.Colman’s College will take on Omagh CBS in the final of the Corn na nÓg Cup. On Monday 26 November Mr. McEvoy’s S4 history class attended a lecture, at the Somme Heritage Centre in Newtownards, from leading Irish historian and author of numerous A-Level history textbooks, Dr. Russell Rees. Dr. Rees, who is now Head of the History department at Omagh Academy, offered an insight into the subject area of Irish Nationalism and Unionism in the period 1800-1900. Great credit to Violet Hill's very own Father Christmas who picked up the 'Best Dressed Santa' award at this evening's Santa Run in Hill Street Newry. Over 150 Santas took part in aid of PIPS Newry and Mourne and Newry Gateway Club. The evening was a major success and the organising team should be extremely proud of the huge turnout to what is now becoming an eagerly anticipated annual event. Destination Newry provided the music and entertainment on stage with our own pupil and MacRory Cup
