Last week, a 6th Year Pupil, Gavin Fleming, received some exciting news. Gavin recently entered a poetry competition, “The Poetry Games”, sponsored by “Young Writers”, an organization set up 20 years ago to encourage creative writing in the lives of young people across the UK. Gavin was thrilled to learn that his poem, “The Field”, has been ed for publication in the book, “The Poetry Games – Across the Globe”, and that his poem is currently being considered as a potential for one of

Collingwood rising star Caolan Mooney stopped by St Colman's a couple of day's before he is due to fly back to Melbourne to join his team mates at AFL Club Collingwood. After the setback against St Paul’s Bessbrook it was important that the senior side got back to winning ways against St Michael’s, Enniskillen in the Moy on Saturday morning. The game got off to a positive start with the College pointing from the throw–in registering a point from Keelan Rice in the 1st minute. From this, however, the Fermanagh side brought the game to St Colman’s and registered two scores to take the lead. This was to remain the pattern for the first period with St Colman’s keep

Love for Literacy

A Literacy Mentoring Programme is underway at Saint Colman’s College. A number of junior students have been invited to work alongside a S3 or S4 mentor to help support the improvement of their individual literacy needs. The programme has so far proved a great success, with junior students growing in confidence. The scheme will run throughout the academic year and will benefit many students.

Mrs Vera Fegan and Mr Hubert Mc Cavitt, representing The Legion of Mary, were in St colman's yesterday to highlight the fantastic work of The Legion. Mrs Fegan, grandmother of J2 pupil Peter Fegan, gave an inspirational insight into how her faith has shaped her life and why the work of the Legion of Mary is still so relevant in 2012. We thank both Mrs Fegan and Mr Mc Cavitt for their wonderful presentation and indeed for the presentation of the miraculous medals and rosary beads. Pictured is Mrs

This inspirational story was kindly put together by S4 pupil Connor Campbell and co-ordinated by Mr Peter Sloane. Cormac King, aged 16, from Killeavy outside Newry has made an extensive breakthrough with something that has been holding him back his entire life; a stammer. At least one in ten people have a mild speech impairment, whether that is stuttering, lisps, Apraxia or even Dysarthria. Knights Wheelchair Basketball Team A Massive Hit!

Representatives from the 'Knights Wheelchair Basketball' club were in St Colman's today to provide our young men with an insight to the sport. Many of the pupils in Year 13 and 14 and in particular the SVP members were eager to make this event happen since it was suggested by Board of Governor Mrs Orla Maginn. We look forward to working with these inspirational men in the future and we wish them every success in their endeavours going forward. More photos to follow.
