Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Michelle O'Neill will be met with a hearty welcome when she arrives to the College on the 19th June in order to present an award to young Farmer of the Year. In addition the Minister will also be treated to a sneak peak of Niall Murphy's innovative project. We are delighted to make this announcement.

Matthew cooks up a storm at 'Take Away My Way'

J3 pupil Matthew Mc Conville and his teacher Miss Murphy recently attended fan All Ireland cookery competition held in St Angela's Sligo. Matthew performed with distinction and deserves great praise for graduating through to the All Ireland Finals. Matthew's signature dish 'Super Healthy Chicken Goujons and wedges was very highly commended.

Pearce Trainor wins inaugural Ross Kerrin Award

Pearce Trainor was presented with the inaugural Ross Kerrin award in Violet Hill today with Hugh Cunningham as runner up. It was a very fitting occasion and the family of former pupil Ross Kerrin were delighted to present young Pearce and indeed Hugh with a Gaeltacht scholarship.

'Mature' Pupils Complete GCSE Irish

On Wednesday past seven students sat their final GCSE Irish paper in St Colman’s College. All have left school more than a few years ago but have taken the opportunity to return to class in order to further their understanding of the native tongue. Campa Chormaic 2013 - Preparations are underway

Despite application forms only being released last week places for the Irish language/Gaelic Games summer camp, in memory of Cormac Mc Anallen, are filling up quickly. Campa Chormaic was staged In Violet Hill last year for the first time and 108 kids from Armagh and Down participated. The launch of this year's camp will take place on Thursday 6th June at 7.30 at the College and all are welcome. Application forms can be downloaded at www.campachormaic.com.

County Down senior hurler, Paul Sheehan, took a skill based session in the College today for our junior hurlers. It was a fantastic occasion and one which our young hurlers thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to past pupil Paul from our hurling coaches Mr Rodgers, Mis Mc Sorley, Miss McKee and indeed from all the boys. It is always a great pleasure to welcome our past pupils back.
